appointed from nominations from lists containing at least three names each submitted by the Kidney Foundation of Maryland, the Regional Medical Programs of Maryland, the Comprehensive Health Planning Agency, the medical faculties of the University of Mary- land and the Johns Hopkins University, and the Medical and Chirur- gical Faculty of Maryland. Of the members appointed at the Gover- nor's discretion, four must be laymen to the field of medicine while two represent the medical insurance industry. No member may serve more than two consecutive four-year terms. The Commission selects its own officers and appoints the Executive Director. The Commission aids in. the gathering and dissemination of infor- mation on the treatment of chronic renal disease in the State. It also sets physical and medical standards for the operation of dialysis and renal transplantation centers, and sets standards for the accept- ance of a patient into the treatment phase of the program. The Com- mission also institutes and supervises educational programs on the subject of kidney disease and its treatment and prevention for the public and providers of health services. Patients accepted into the treatment phase of the program will be eligible for State medical assistance. The Commission may utilize existing programs and groups for its informational purposes, whether or not such programs and groups are governmental. The Commission is to evaluate the entire kidney disease program annually and report such evaluation to the Governor (Code 1957, 1971 Repl. Vol., 1971 Supp., Art. 43, sees. 781- 790). Navazio, 1974; Leon Pear, 1974. 15260 Biding Stable Road, Laurel 21810 Telephone: 776-6686 The Greater Laurel Hospital Authority was created by Chapter 256, Acts of 1970, to construct, operate and oversee the construction or operation of a comprehensive public health facility including a full- service public hospital in the general vicinity of Laurel. The Authority is governed by a twelve-member Board of Directors appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate for terms of three years. Persons appointed must reside in the general area to be served by the Authority. Three members are appointed from Anne Arundel County, three from Howard County, three from Montgomery County, and three from Prince George's County. Initially, one member was appointed from each county for a one-year term, one from each for a two-year term, and one from each for a three- year term. At least one of the members from each county must be a certified member of the medical profession. The Authority selects its own officers. The Board of Directors of the Authority has the power to pass all by-laws required to construct, operate and maintain this comprehen- sive health facility. The Board may also accept certain gifts and grants, issue revenue bonds to fund its capital improvement program, and if necessary, establish additional hospitals, nursing homes, ex- tended care facilities, general health facilities, clinics, and any other medical centers or any other facilities (Code 1957, 1971 Repl.
