Howard Street, Baltimore 21201 Telephone: 383-2766 This Board was created by Chapter 430, Acts of 1967. It consists of nine members appointed by the Governor from among representa- tives of municipal government, sanitary or metropolitan commissions, a water works superintendent, a wastewater works superintendent, a farmer, an engineer, and representatives of the State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and the Department of Water Resources. Members serve for four-year staggered terms, except that the repre- sentatives of the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and the Department of Water Resources serve at the pleasure of their appoint- ing authorities. The Board is to establish a certification program for Superin- tendents of water works, wastewater works, and industrial wastewater works to protect public health and to prevent pollution. The Board also coordinates examinations for Superintendent certification (Code 1967, 1971 Repl. Vol., Art. 43, sec. 406A). BOARD OF EXAMINERS OF NURSING HOME ADMINISTRATORS Chairman: Carl E. Preston Street, Baltimore 21201 Telephone: 383-2547 The Board of Examiners of Nursing Home Administrators was established by Chapter 262, Acts of 1970 to examine, license and register nursing home administrators. The Board consists of nine members appointed by the Governor upon the recommendation of the Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene for three-year terms. The Governor designates the Chairman and the Vice Chairman, while the Board appoints the Executive Secretary. The membership includes four individuals who are actively engaged in the management and operation of a nursing home, four persons other than nursing home administrators who are actively engaged in professions concerned with the care of the aged and the chronically ill, and one member appointed from the general public who is not engaged in the management, ownership, operation or supervision of any nursing home or hospital. The Board establishes reasonable fees for the issuance of licenses and biennial registrations, and enforces standards. It also develops appropriate techniques and procedures for the issuance of licenses and, if necessary, may establish procedures for the revocation or suspension of any license. In addition, the Board establishes rules and regulations for its operation and conducts a continuing study of nursing homes and administrators of nursing homes. The Board * Term expired.
