AIRPORT ZONING BOARD Chairman: Robert J. Bird, 1972 Edward D. Hardesty, 1972; Marshall M. Meyer, 1973; Richard M. Drake, 1974; Edward H. Hosse III, 1975. The Airport Zoning Board was created by Chapter 450, Acts of 1968 to supervise the zoning in the vicinity of Friendship Inter- national Airport. The Board, consisting of five members appointed by the Secretary of Transportation with the approval of the Governor and with the advice and consent of the Senate for four-year terms, is to have authority over all zoning regulations for airports located in Anne Arundel County and owned by the State, and for Friendship Inter- national Airport. One member must reside in Anne Arundel County while one member must be a resident of Baltimore City. The Secretary designates the Chairman. The Board appoints the Executive Secretary (Code 1957, 1968 Repl. Vol., 1970 Supp., Art. 62C, sec. 21). Airport Zoning Commission (members not yet appointed) Chapter 450, Acts of 1968 also created an Airport Zoning Commis- sion composed of three members appointed by the Airport Zoning Board. One member must reside in Anne Arundel County and one must be a resident of Baltimore City. The Board of Airport Zoning Appeals designates the Chairman. The Commission recommends the boundaries of original airport zoning districts and appropriate regulations to the Board. It is subject to all restrictions which apply to the Zoning Board (Code 1957, 1968 Repl. Vol., 1970 Supp., Art. 62C, sec. 21f). |
