Box 8755, Friendship International Airport, Baltimore 21240 Telephone: 761-1148 The Aviation Administration created by Chapter 526, Acts of 1970, has general supervision over State aeronautics superseding the State Aviation Commission established by Chapter 318, Acts of 1939. It encourages and assists in the development of airports and air naviga- tion facilities. The Administration is responsible for airport planning and financing, commercial air carrier promotion, general aviation pro- motional responsibility, licensing and aviation safety. The Administrator is appointed by the Secretary of Transportation and serves at the Secretary's pleasure. The State Aviation Administration publishes an annual report, an airport directory, a newsletter and is currently working in cooperation with the Department of State Planning to produce a Maryland Air Transportation System Plan for the State of Maryland (Code 1957, 1968 Repl. Vol., Art. 1A, sees. 3-5, 14-15, 17-19, 21-23, 25-28, 31-36; 1971 Repl. Vol., Art. 41, sec. 207B).
