The Governor appointed this special study commission in 1965 at
the request of the General Assembly to make a comprehensive study
and review of the criminal laws of the State, criminal procedures and
the administration of criminal justice. The Commission is to report to
the Governor and to the Legislative Council at a later date (J. R. No.
22, Acts of 1965).
SPECIAL COMMITTEE TO STUDY THE FIREWORKS
INDUSTRY IN MARYLAND

The Governor appointed this special Committee in 1969 on the rec-
ommendation of the Department of Labor and Industry to study the
feasibility of outlawing or drastically curtailing the manufacture of
fireworks in Maryland. The Committee consists of members of the
House of Delegates, a member of the Board of County Commissioners
of Cecil County, the Commissioner of Labor and industry, the State
Fire Marshal, and representatives of the fireworks industry. The Com-
mittee is to weigh the economic impact of the State of the fireworks
industry in Maryland against the threat it poses to human life and
property. The Committee is to report at a later date.

ment of an Archive of Maryland Folklife. The Commission consists
of fifteen members including representatives from the State Depart-
ment of Economic Development, the State Department of Forests and
Parks, the Maryland Historical Trust, the Maryland Environmental
