Preston Street, Baltimore 21201 Telephone: 383-3010 The State Aviation Commission, created by Chapter 318, Acts of 1929, is composed of five members appointed by the Governor for three-year terms. The Commission has general supervision over aeronautics in Mary- land. It is empowered and directed to encourage, foster, and assist in the development of aviation in the State. The Commission recommends necessary legislation to advance the interests of the State in aero- nautical matters before Federal agencies and other State agencies, and provides for the protection and promotion of safety in aero- nautics. The Commission is authorized to make such rules and regu- lations for its administration as it may deem expedient and may from time to time amend such rules and regulations. It inspects and licenses all airports and registers for licensing all aircraft, pilots, aeronautical schools, and ground instructors in the State. The Commission must approve the planning and development of airport sites and airports in Maryland and administer the Federal funds allocated for the plan- ning and development of airport sites and airports (Code 1957, Art. 1A, sees. 3-5, 14-15, 17-19, 21-23, 25-28, 31-36).
