Preston Street, Baltimore 21201 The Governor appointed this special Committee in 1963 to assist in the relocation of the many thousands of Cuban refugees who have settled in Florida after fleeing Cuba. This Committee will coordinate activities in the State with those already undertaken by national voluntary agencies engaged in resettlement work. It will also encour- age the establishment of local resettlement committees within Mary- land to coordinate the activities of such local groups. MARYLAND HUNTING SPACES COMMISSION Chairman: Russ J. C. 20036 Telephone: Adams 2-8004 The Governor appointed this special commission in 1964 at the request of the General Assembly. The Commission consisted of nine appointed and five ex officio members who were to investigate all means to provide more hunting spaces for the Maryland hunter. The Commission was further directed to consider the acceleration of a program of acquiring public hunting grounds, a study of the feasi- bility of game propagation, the need for additional recreational facili- ties for hunters, and to investigate the degree of cooperation among State agencies for the benefit of the hunters of the State. The Com- mission is continuing its studies (J. R. No. 24, Acts of 1964). MARYLAND SCENIC BEAUTY COMMISSION Chairman: Charles R. Anderson John E. dark, Susanna K. Cristofane, Spencer P. State Roads Commission, Brooklandville 21022 The Governor appointed this special commission in 1965 at the request of the General Assembly as a part of the nationwide beautifi- cation program proposed by the President of the United States. The Commission is to cooperate with the federal program on behalf of the State of Maryland. The Commission consists of representatives of the State Roads Commission, the State Planning Department, and the Department of Forests and Parks, all of whom were appointed by the Governor. The Legislative Council appointed the members of the General Assembly, representatives of the County Commissioners As- sociation, the League of Maryland Municipalities, and the representa- tives of the garden clubs and other civic and community organizations and interests. The Commission will meet and make recommendations from time to time (J. R. No. 9, Acts of 1965). |
