COMMISSION TO STUDY MIGRATORY BIRD LAWS

At the request of the General Assembly, the Governor appointed
this Commission in 1959 to study the Migratory Bird Laws of Mary-
land with the view of recodifying them, and correlating them with
Federal laws and regulations. The Commission is composed of a mem-
ber of the General Assembly, the Director of the Game and Inland Fish
Department, a representative of the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service,
and one representative of the following organizations: The Associated
Sportsmen's Club of the Eastern Shore; the Central Association of
Sportsmen's Clubs; and the Western Association of Sportsmen's Clubs.
The Commission completed its work, but at the request of the General
Assembly of 1961, the Governor reappomted it as an advisory com-
mission to the Game and Inland Fish Commission (J. R. No. 34, Acts
of 1959; J. R. No. 41, Acts of 1961).

The Commission of Forests and Parks consists of seven members,
appointed by the Governor, to serve five-year overlapping terms. The
Commission elects its own officers. One member is appointed on the
recommendation of the Maryland State Grange; one on the recommen-
dation of the Maryland Farm Bureau; one shall have practical expe-
rience in the lumbering industry; one shall be a resident of Garrett
County; and three members shall be appointed for their general
interest in the advancement of forests, parks, and recreation in the
State. The Commission serves as an advisory committee to the
Director of the Department and makes suggestions and gives advice
as to the operation and administration of the Department (Code 1957,
1965 Supp., Art. 66C, sec. 343A).
