NOTE: Membership in the House of Delegates has been increased
temporarily by 19 members, to make a total of 142 members. This
increase was necessary because of a suit brought in the Circuit Court
of Anne Arundel County (Maryland Committee for Fair Representa-
tion v. Tawes), Daily Record, July 2, 1962, and subsequently brought
before the Court of Appeals, which declared Art. III, Section 5 of the
Constitution of Maryland invalid. By Chapter I, Acts of the Second
Special Session of 1962, the following counties received additional
members of the House of Delegates: Anne Arundel County, 1; Balti-
more County, 7; Montgomery County, 4; Prince George's County, 4;
Third District of Baltimore City, 2; Fifth District of Baltimore City,
