The Governor appointed the members of the organizing committee
of this Board in 1963 at the request of the Economic Development
Commission. The Board, which will be composed of leaders in the
business, industrial, academic, professional, cultural, and governmen-
tal fields, grew out of the Maryland Science-Industry Conference held
on May 24, 1961. The Board is to develop a stimulating science-
industry climate in Maryland in order to provide employment oppor-
tunities and services required by a growing population.
