The Governor appointed this special Committee in 1963 to coordi-
nate studies of the fish mortality which has occurred in the Potomac
River and other Maryland tidal waters. The Committee is to work
with a similar Committee appointed by the Governor of Virginia and
to report from time to time.

COMMITTEE TO INVESTIGATE THE CORRECTIONAL
CAMP SYSTEM

Chairman: Thomas B. Finan, Attorney General
Samuel A. Graham, Carey B. Jarman

The Governor appointed this special Committee in 1962, at the
request of the General Assembly, to investigate the administration
of the Department of Correction correctional camp system on the
Eastern Shore, and to take such corrective action as might be re-
quired. The members of the Committee are the Attorney General of
Maryland, the Sheriff of Wicomico County and the Superintendent of
the Maryland State Police (House Resolution No. 16, 1962).

DEGRADABILITY IN WASTE TREATMENT SYSTEMS
FOR DETERGENT MATERIALS

The Governor appointed this Committee in 1963 at the request of
the General Assembly. The Committee is to review the need for a
standard of degradability in waste treatment systems for detergent
materials and to recommend a standard of such degradability and a
method for determining such degradability so as to guide soap and
detergent manufacturers in their research efforts to more suitable
detergent materials, and also to assist regulatory agencies in their
detergent control efforts (Res. No. II, Acts of 1963).
