SALISBURY STATE TEACHERS COLLEGE

The State Teachers College at Salisbury was established in 1925
as a normal school to prepare elementary teachers. In 1932 it be-
came a teachers college. In addition to the four-year curriculum
leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Education, the College
also offers a two-year Junior college program. Those pursuing the
full four-year program pay no tuition if they promise to teach in the
public schools of Maryland for two years following their graduation
The College enrollment for 1950-1951 was approximately 270.

TOWSON STATE TEACHERS COLLEGE

The State Teachers College at Towson was established as the
Maryland State Normal School by the General Assembly of 1865.
The school was originally located in Baltimore and was moved to
Towson in 1915 In 1932 the normal school became a four-year
teachers' college The curriculum includes courses in both junior
high school and elementary teaching leading to the degree of Bache-
for of Science in Education. The school also offers a two-year junior
college course. Students enrolling in the four-year curriculum for
prospective teachers pay no tuition if they promise to teach in the
public schools of Maryland following their graduation. The approxi-
mate enrollment of the College for the school year 1950-1951 was 900.
