115. All taxes, fines, forfeitures and penalties imposed by said
commissioners by virtue of any law or ordinance, shall be applied
for the use of the town in such manner as may from time to
time be directed by ordinance.
ROADS.
116. Each supervisor of roads in said county and his deputies
shall call upon the taxable persons of his district at least two
days before he intends working on said roads, exclusive of the
day of notice and the day of meeting, and notify them of his in-
tention and the time and place of meeting, to work said roads,
wha-t implements to bring, with carts and teams if necessary.
117. The taxables so notified shall furnish one-half of their
able bodied negroes, if required, (except in time of wheat har-
vest,) not under eighteen or over forty-five years of age, and
such utensils, carts and teams as they may have and may be
required to furnish.
118. If any taxable inhabitant, when called upon as directed
in the preceding section, shall, without good reason, neglect
or refuse to furnish his proportion of hands, carts and teams,
with the necessary utensils and implements, he shall be liable to
a fine of one dollar for every hand, cart or team he may have
been called upon to furnish, to be recovered at the instance of
the supervisor in the name of the State, before any justice of the
peace in said county, and paid to the county commissioners for
the use of the roads in said county.
119. In default on the part of the taxables to furnish their
proportions of hands, carts and teams, the said supervisors and
their deputies may employ such persons not chargeable with
taxes as they may think proper.
120. The allowance to each laborer employed upon the public
, roads shall be one dollar a day, and for every cart and team the
sum of one dollar.

121. No supervisor shall employ more than one-half of his
own able bodied negroes at any one time, nor at any other time
than when he calls upon the taxables of his district, except to
repair broken bridges or remove temporary obstructions in and
across said roads.
