126. The clerk of the market shall receive such compensation
as the commissioners shall deem reasonable, not exceeding forty
dollars a year.

127. The market days in said town shall be Tuesdays and
Saturdays of every week, unless other days be fixed by said
commissioners, and all provisions brought to the said town for
sale shall be taken to the market house and sold during market
hours, which shall be from any time in the morning until twelve
o'clock at noon; but fish and oysters, beef by the quarter or
larger quantity, pork by the hog, grain, flour, bread, butter in
firkins or other vessels exceeding twenty pounds net weight,
cheese, beef and pork in barrels or larger casks, live cattle,
sheep, and hogs brought to said town, may be sold anywhere
therein.

128. If any inhabitant of said town shall buy any provision of
any person bringing or having brought to said town, or within
two miles thereof, any kind of provisions for sale, (except as
excepted in the preceding section,) either upon the stated mar-
ket days or on any other days during market hours, at any
other place than said market house, he shall forfeit the sum of
four dollars.

129. If any person shall sell to any free inhabitant, or the
slave of any inhabitant, of said town, any provision which such
person may be bringing or sending or may have brought or
sent to said town, or within two miles thereof, for sale except as
before excepted, either upon the stated market days or on any
other days during market hours, at any other place than said
market, he shall forfeit the sum of two dollars.

130. If any person shall butcher any cattle, sheep, or hogs in
or near the said market house, he shall forfeit the sum of two
dollars.

181. If any person shall put any horse, mare or gelding into
or under said market house, he shall forfeit the sum of seventy-
five cents.

182. No person shall keep any swine within the limits of said
town, (except in sties or other enclosures,) and if any swine be
found going at large therein, the bailiff shall seize and detain
the same until the owner shall pay him two dollars, if an in-
