80 ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY. [ART. 2.

164. The commissioners of primary schools shall receive from
the treasurer of Maryland the sum of eight hundred dollars an-
nually, and the treasurer is hereby directed to pay the same;

they shall also receive the dividends and profits arising on any
stock heretofore purchased to their use by said treasurer, and all
other money or funds belonging to the school fund of Anne
Arnndel county.

165. The county commissioners of Anne Arundel county shall
levy upon the assessable property of the said county such sum,
annually, as -will divide to each school district three hundred
dollars independent of the State fund, but shall not include dis-
trict No. 38 in such distribution.

166. The commissioners of primary schools shall appropriate
the sum of eight hundred dollars, or BO much thereof as they may
deem expedient, for the use and benefit of the academies or
schools of the county, in such proportions and under such regu-
lations as they may think right and proper.

167. They shall apportion all other moneys received by them'
from the treasurer of- Maryland or by him paid into the Farmers
Bank of Maryland to their credit, amongst the several school
districts which shall have substantially complied with this law,
in proportion to the number of children [actually attending
primary schools in each district.

168. The trustees of any primary school district may, in their
discretion, require from any child attending school the payment
of any sum of money not exceeding twenty-five cents a month,
to be applied to the payment of the expenses of the school, and
they may, from time to time, increase or diminish said sum, may
discontinue it and graduate its payment according to the ability
of the children and the exigencies of the school.

169. The commissioners of primary schools shall pay all moneys
apportioned to the school districts to the trustees of the several •
districts, whose receipts therefor shall be good and sufficient
evidence of payment.

170. No money shall be apportioned by said commissioners
until the trustees of the district, or at least two of them, shall
certify, in writing under their hands, to the following effect:
