with a notice annexed to said bill, that unless the same is paid
within thirty days thereafter, the said, collector will proceed to
enforce collection therefor by levy and sale according to law;

and in case of unoccupied land belonging to any person not re-
siding in Howard county, the said bill and notice may be put
upon any part of the premises; but no such notice as is provided
for in this section shall be given until after the thirty-first day of
July of the year for which the taxes are levied.

13*. Before proceeding to sell any property under this article,
the collector shall give twenty days' notice of the time, place
and cause of said sale, by advertisement in some newspaper (if
there be any) published in the county, and by hand-bills set up
at the court-house door, and at not less than four public places
in the neighborhood of said property.

14*. In all Cases of the sale of real estate under the provisions
of this article, the person owning the same prior to the sale shall
be entitled to redeem the same by paying the purchaser thereof
within twelve calendar months from the day of sale, the prin-
cipal sum which said purchaser has paid, together with fifteen
per cent. interest thereon

15*. The cost of making distress for taxes under the pre-
ceding sections of this article shall be: for summoning and
swearing two appraisers and making schedule, one dollar, to the
appraisers, fifty cents each, the expense of advertising; and in
case of tale, five per cent. to the collector on the gross amount
of the sale.

16*. It shall be the duty of all collectors appointed under this
article to ascertain and return to the commissioners of the
county all the accumulation of assessable property in their
respective districts; and they shall have all the powers, privileges,
duties and liabilities given and prescribed to the collector of
taxes by the eighty-first article of the Code of Public General
Laws; and before entering upon the duties of their office they
shall take the oath prescribed by the said article.

17*. The tax payers of Howard county shall be entitled to
the deduction for prompt payments of State taxes now allowed
by law, and to the following deduction of county taxes: six per
cent. on payments made on or before the first day of July, and
three per cent. on payments made on or before the first day of
