SHEEP.
118*, Every owner or keeper of a dog in Harford county shall
pay an annual tax as follows: for each dog one dollar per annum,
and for each bitch two dollars.
119*. The constables of said county shall, in the month of April
in each year, return a list under oath to the county commis-
sioners of all the dogs in the districts assigned to them by the
county commissioners, together with the name of the owner of
each dog or bitch.
120*. The county commissioners of said county, before the first
day of April, eighteen hundred and sixty, shall divide each elec-
tion district into as many subdivisions as there are constables
in each district, and they shall define each subdivision by the
public roads or water courses, and shall assign a constable to
each subdivision, and shall notify such constable that he is so
assigned, and inform him of the bounds of his subdivision.
121*. The county commissioners shall enter in a book to be
by them kept for that purpose, the subdivisions into which they
shall subdivide each election district.
122*. The county commissioners shall, between the first day of
July and the first day of September in each year, deliver to each
constable a list of the owners or keepers of dogs, and the amount
. of tax which each owner or keeper has to pay, and the constable
shall forthwith collect said tax; and if any person shall not pay
said tax within thirty days after the same is demanded, the
constable'shall proceed to collect the same by execution, in the
same manner as he collects small debts on judgments.
123'1'. If any owner or keeper of a dog shall be unable to
pay the tax thereon, and the constable shall be unable to find
any property to execute for the same, the constable shall fortlr-
with proceed to kill his or her dog or dogs.
124*. If any person shall resist a constable, or shall endeavor
to prevent his killing any dog liable to be killed under the pre-
ceding section, such person shall be deemed guilty of a misde-
meanor, and on conviction, shall be fined or imprisoned, or both,
at the discretion of the court.
