has been guilty of such violation, the said judge shall have full
power immediately to suppress the license of such person, and
no new license shall be granted to him or her.

58. Any one order which may be given to any minor, free
negro, or any negro slave under the provisions of the 55th
section of this article, shall not be available for the purpose for
which It was given for a longer period than two days from its
date.

59. It shall be the duty of the sheriff of Anne Arundel county
and his deputies, and of the constables of the city of Annapolis,
to exercise proper vigilance in order to detect all violations of
this article, in relation to the sale of liquors to minors and
negroes, and report immediately any such violations to the judge
of said court.

60. All fines imposed and collected under the provisions of
section 55 of this article, shall go one-half to the informer, and
the other half to the State.

61. The mayor, recorder and each alderman shall, in virtue of
their office, have and exercise within the limits of the corpora-
tion all the jurisdiction and powers of a justice of the peace.

62. The mayor may call on any officer of the city intrusted
with the receipt and expenditure of public money for a state-
ment of his accounts as often as he may deem it necessary; ho
shall see that the ordinances are duly and faithfully executed,
and shall report annually to the corporation during the first five
days of their session, the general state of the city, with an accu-
rate account of the money received and expended, to be pub-
lished for the information of the citizens.

63. The mayor may take the acknowledgment of any deed or
instrument of writing required by law to be acknowledged, and
shall receive therefor the sum of fifty cents.

64. The collector of taxes in said city shall have the same
power to collect the city taxes as the collectors of county taxes,
and shall be governed by the same rules.

65. When any tax shall be due upon real estate, and no per-
sonal property shall be found thereon liable to the payment
