534 DORCHESTER COUNTY. [ART. 10.

201. All persons who are so located in any achool district as
to make it more convenient to go to the adjoining school district,
may do so with the consent of the school commissioners of such
adjoining district.

202. The county commissioners of Dorchester county shall
annually levy the sum of four thousand dollars on the assessable
property of the county for the use of primary schools.

203. They shall, at their first meeting in each year, or as soon
thereafter as may be convenient, appoint a treasurer, whose duty
it shall be to take charge of all moneys levied in said county,
and other money belonging or pertaining to the school fund of
said county.

204. The treasurer shall give bond to the State of Maryland,
with such security or securities as may be approved by the
county commissioners, in the sum of fifteen thousand dollars, for
the faithful discharge of the duties of his office.

205. He shall receive as a compensation for his services one
and a half per cent. on all sums collected and disbursed by
him.

206. The collector for said county shall collect the amount of
the assessment for the use of primary schools, and pay the same
to the treasurer.

207. The whole amount of the school fund for said county,
except the several sums appropriated for the benefit of the
academies of New Market and Cambridge, together with that
portion of the surplus revenue which may hereafter be applied
to the use of Dorchester county, and the amount levied in said
county, shall constitute a consolidated fund for the use of pri-
mary schools in said county, and the treasurer of the school
fund shall have power to draw annually upon the Treasurer of
Maryland for that portion of said fund which is to be paid by
the State.

208. The school fund shall be distributed to the several elec-
tion districts in said county in proportion to their white popula-
tion ; and no school shall be deprived of its portion in conse-
quence of being vacated, unless it shall remain so for a longer
period than twelve months at any one time.
