54. The limits of said town shall be as described on the plat
thereof in the office of the clerk of the Circuit Court for Dor-
chester county, but the commissioners may extend the limits
thereof, and may lay out streets, lanes and alleys whenever they
may think proper, and shall return a plat of such extension to
the clerk of the Circuit Court.
65. If land or any other property shall be condemned in the
extension of the limits of said town, the value thereof shall be
ascertained by a jury of twelve disinterested persons of the
county having no assessable property in the town, and the said
commissioners shall issue their warrant to the sheriff of Dor-
chester county to summon such jury, and they shall meet at
Cambridge on a day fixed by the sheriff, of which notice shall be
given by the sheriff to the owner of the land to be condemned,
and having been sworn by the sheriff without partiality or pre-
judice, to value the land and the damages sustained by. the owner
by means of such condemnation according to the best of their
skill and judgment, shall proceed to make such valuation.
56. The jury in estimating the damages shall take intd con-
sideration, not only the actual value of the land condemned, but
also any injury that may be done by means thereof to any other
property of the owner.
57. The sheriff shall return the inquisition under his hand and
seal, and the hands and seals of the jury, to the commissioners,
to be recorded among the land records of Dorchester county,
and the said condemnation shall, upon payment or tender to
the owner of the land condemned of the damages assessed by
the inquisition, vest the property condemned in the commis-
sioners.
58. The market house and grounds thereto attached and be-
longing in Cambridge are vested in the said commissioners and
their successors for the use and benefit of the inhabitants of
said town.
59. The commissioners of said town shall annually appoint a
clerk of the market, and in case of vacancy in said office by
death, resignation, refusal to act, or removal of said clerk, the
said commissioners shall fill the vacancy for the remainder of the
year.
