12. They shall pay said overseer a sum not exceeding two
hundred dollars per annum as a salary, and so pro rata during
his continuance in office.
13. They shall provide suitable farming stock and implements
of husbandry, and cause all paupers who may be maintained in
the alms-house to perform such labor on the land belonging
thereto as may be consistent with their health and the public
interest.
14. They shall provide suitable and necessary implements of
labor and materials therefor so as to provide for the employment
of the inmates of said alms-house not engaged in the cultivation
of the farm, but who may be capable of doing effective in-door
labor.
15. The overseer shall keep a regular list of all poor and all
beggars, vagrants, vagabonds and offenders who shall be com-
mitted to the said alms-house, and also regular accounts of all
materials and other things coming to his hands as overseer, and
of all expenses and charges attending the maintenance and
support of the inmates of the alms-house, and of all moneys re-
ceived by him for the sale of the produce of their labor, and
shall render the same, under oath to be administered by one of
said trustees, to the trustees at their regular meetings, or oftener
if required.
16. He may compel and oblige any of the inmates of the said
alms-house, if of sufficient ability, to work and labor, and shall
account for the produce of their labor.
17. Upon complaint made that any person from his disorderly
conduct gives disturbance to a neighborhood and is likely to
become chargeable to the county, any justice of the peace, if
upon hearing the party he shall judge the complaint to be well
founded, may commit such disorderly person to the alms-house
for any time not exceeding three months, unless he shall find
security, at the discretion of the justice, in any sum not exceed-
ing fifty dollars, for his good behavior during the space of six
months.
18. "Upon complaint and due proof made by the overseer of the
said alms-house to any one trustee that any inmate of the aaid
alms-house hath behaved himself in a disorderly manner, or hath
