less than fifty nor more than one hundred dollars, recoverable
by action at the suit of the party injured.

SCHOOLS.

110. There shall be five school commissioners for Charles
county, and the Orphans' Court of said county shall fill all va-
cancies that may occur in the said board.

111. The said commissioners shall elect their own president
and make all such by-laws and regulations as they may deem
necessary for their government.

112. They shall meet quarterly at the court-house in Port
Tobacco, and the president may call extra meetings whenever,
in his judgment, the business of the board requires it.

113. A majority of the board shall constitute a quorum for
the transaction of business. •

114. They shall annually appoint a treasurer and a register.

115. The duties of the treasurer shall be to receive and dis-
burse all sums of money receivable and applicable to the primary
schools of Charles county, under the direction of the board of
school commissioners.

116. The duties of the register shall be to register iri a book
kept for that purpose, ail such matters as the board of school
commissioners shall direct.

117. The school commissioners shall divide the county into as
many school districts as they deem necessary for public conveni-
ence; shall number and clearly define each, and from time to time
create new ones as necessity may require.

118. They may sell and dispose of any school house that it
may become necessary to sell from the formation of new dis-
tricts, and appropriate the money to the school fund of the
county.

119. They shall every two years appoint in each school district
five suitable men as trustees for such school district, who shall be
notified of their appointment as early as practicable thereafter,
