surer aforesaid quarterly; Provided, the said levy for school pur-
poses shall not exceed twelve cents on the one hundred dollars.

208. Each pupil shall pay one dollar per quarter in advance,
unless the parent or guardian of such pupil shall be unable to
pay the same; and in that case the school commissioner of the
election district shall admit such pupil free of charge; and the
ability or inability of the parent or guardian to pay shall be
determined by said commissioner.

209. No money shall be paid to Cecil county on account of the
State school fund except upon the draft of the treasurer of the
board of commissioners of public schools of Cecil county, counter-
signed by the president of said board.

WOOD COBDEB.

210. The Governor, with the advice and consent of the Senate,
shall appoint one wood corder for the village of Port Deposit,
one for the village of North East, including the different wood
landings on North East River, one for the village of Frenchtown,
and one for Perryville and Principio Furnace, and said corders
shall be governed by the same laws with regard to their measure-
ment prescribed for wood corders in the city of Baltimore.

; 211. The wood corder at Port Deposit shall receive ten cents,
at North East four cents, at Perryville and Principio four cents,
and at Frenchtown six cents, for each cord of wood they shall
respectively measure.

212. When any person at either of said places may want wood
measured, he shall call on the corder in person, or by a written
notice, whose duty it shall be immediately thereafter to measure
the same; but nothing herein contained shall compel any person
to have his wood measured or inspected, but all persons wishing
it shall have it done by the corders appointed as aforesaid.

213. If any person shall measure any wood at either of said
places and receive pay therefor without being appointed by the
Governor, ho shall forfeit and pay twenty dollars for each offence,
to bo recovered and collected in the manner other small debts
are collected, one-half of which shall go to the informer and the
Other half to the use of the State.
