466 CECIL COUNTY. [AKT. 8.

185. If there shall not be sufficient money in the treasury
belonging to the said fund, the warrant shall be kept by the per-
son in whose favor it is drawn and be paid out of the first
money that shall come into the treasury belonging thereto.

186. Any money that may be in the treasury at the expiration
of any year from the levy thereof, over and above paying the
damages sustained by the inhabitants of the county in the loss
or injury of sheep by dogs, shall be by the treasurer, on the
-warrant of the county commissioners, paid to the board of com-
missioners of public schools of Cecil county, to be by them
applied to the purposes of education. ,

187. Any dog kept or staying about a house shall be deenred
sufficient evidence of ownership to authorize the collector to
return the person inhabiting said house as the owner or possessor
of such dog, and any person sending his dog from house to
house or place to place to avoid the said tax, shall be liable to
pay double tax therefor; and every dog not returned shall be
deemed to have no owner, and may be killed by any person
seeing him running at large.

188. If any dog shall be seen running sheep, any person may
kill him; or if any dog shall have been known to worry sheep,
and information thereof be given to the owner thereof, if he does
not kill such dog he shall make full compensation for all dam-
ages done by it, and any person seeing the dog running at large
may kill him.

SHERIFF.

189. The Sheriff of Cecil county shall be entitled to thirty
cents a day for keeping in prison and boarding each prisoner.

190. He shall be entitled to fifty cents each for delivering cer-
tificates of their appointment to the trustees of the poor.

191. He shall be entitled to eight per cent. for the collection
of officers' fees placed in his handa and by him collected.

SCHOOLS.

192. It shall be lawful for the legal voters of the several elec-
tion districts of Cecil county to meet at the •usnal places of hold-
ing elections in said districts on the first Wednesday of May,
