services as shall from time to time be by them directed; shall
prevent the tumultuous and irregular meetings of slaves or free
negroes within the limits of said village; shall punish with mode-
rate correction all such slaves and free negroes as shall be found
wandering about the streets at night, and shall prevent slaves
from frequenting houses of other persons without the consent or
permission of their masters.

133. All taxes, fines, forfeitures and penalties imposed by the
said commissioners, by virtue of any law or ordinance, shall be
applied to the use of said village, in such manner as may from
time to time be by ordinance directed.

NEGKOES AND SLAVES.

134. Any free negro residing in Cecil county who shall leave
the State of Maryland and return thereto, shall be subject to the
penalties imposed on free negroes emigrating into this State by
article sixty-six, section 44 of the code.

135. The provisions of the aforegoing section shall not apply
to any free negro whilst in the employ of any white person in
Cecil county, who shall be sent out of the State by his bona fide
employer, or J;he agent of said employer, for the purpose of
transacting business for his white employer, and shall not
remain out of the State longer than ten days.

ORPHANS' COUBT.

186. Each judge of the Orphans' Court of Cecil county shall
be entitled to receive three dollars a day for each day's attend-
ance upon the sitting of the court.

137. The judges of the said court may appoint their crier, and
the county commissioners shall levy a sum of money not exceed-
ing one dollar per day for every day the register of wills shall
certify that the said crier acted as such, for his use.

PEDLARS.

138. No person shall bring into Cecil county any carriages,
hacks, gigs or buggy wagons of any description, not manufac-
tured in this State, to be sold on commission, or otherwise,
without first obtaining a license for that purpose.
