406 CARROLL COUNTY. [ART. 7.
ALMS-HOUSE.

SECTION 1. The county commissioners of Carroll county shall
employ the overseer of the alms-house.

2. They shall visit the alms-house at least once in every three
months, either personally or by a committee of their number, to
examine into the condition and affairs of the institution; shall
levy upon the assessable property of the county for any actual
or expected deficiency of means for its support, and do all other
acts necessary to the proper conducting of the farm and alms-
house.

3. They may, whenever they may deem it just and proper,
require indigent persons who receive out-pensions to relinquish
the same and repair to the alms-house.

4. They may grant out-pensions, when in their opinion it is
right and proper.

5. They shall publish annually with their statement of the
county expenditures, a statement of the financial condition of
the alms-house.

BAILIFFS AND CRIER.

6. The a county commissioners of said county shall pay the
bailiffs and crier of the Circuit Court for said county, at its
several sessions, the sums of money due to them for their re-
spective services, immediately upon the presentation of the
certificate of the clerk of said court, of their attendance and
services.

CIRCUIT COURT.

7. The terms of the Circuit Court for Carroll county shall
commence and be held at Westminster, on the first Monday in
April, and the first Monday in September.

8. The judge of the Circuit Court, may in his discretion ap-
point intermediate terms for the transaction of equity or other
business, not requiring a jury to which process may be return-
able.
