198. The Itegister of Wills shall keep an account of the
receipts and disbursements of the school fund in a book to be
kept for that purpose, and he shall also preserve the accounts,
orders and reports of the commissioners and trustees, and shall
bo paid out of the school fund such sum for his services as the
Orphans' Court may deem reasonable.
199. The Orphans' Court shall report to the General Assembly
annually, during the month of January, the amount of money
received from the treasurer as a school fund, and how the same
has been disbursed, and showing the number of primary free
schools in said county, and how many poor children have been
educated out of the free school fund under the selection of the
commissioners.
200*. The trustees of primary schools number one and four in
election district number one in Caroline county are authorized
and empowered to use and appropriate the charity school fund
of said schools or so much thereof as may be necessary for the
purpose of building a new school house in each of said school
districts.
SHERIFF.
201. The sheriff of Caroline county shall be allowed for keep-
ing prisoners in jail and finding them in food, twenty cents per
day, exclusive of firewood.
202. He shall be allowed fifty cents each time for ironing or
unironing a prisoner, as often as it may be necessary to do so.
203. He may charge and receive from all officers and attorneys
who may place fees in his hands for collection, a commission of
eight per cent. on the amount collected.
WITNESSES.
204. Each witness summoned to attend the Circuit Court for
Caroline county shall receive for each day's attendance the sum
of sixty cents, and five cents for every mile that "his place of resi-
dence is distant from Denton, such mileage to be computed for
each day's attendance.
