380 CAROLINE COUNTY. [ART. 6.

lodge rooms, and apply the proceeds to the payment to the
subscribers to said lodge for the expense of erecting the same,
(deducting necessary repairs,) and when the cost of erecting
the same is paid, shall hold the same for the use of the village.

75. If the commissioners of said village shall at any time fail
to do any thing required to be done by them at a particular
time, the same may be done by them at any time within twenty
days thereafter.

DROVERS.

76. Every drover who shall drive any cattle or sheep in or
through Caroline county, shall have each and every cattle and
sheep so marked with red paint or tar on their forehead, that
said mark may be easily seen.

77. Any drover failing to have his sheep or cattle so marked,
shall forfeit one-half the value of the cattle or sheep unmarked,
and any individual of said county may take from his drove any
cattle or sheep unmarked as aforesaid.

78. The person taking the cattle or sheep from such drove,
unless they be his own, shall safely keep them, and shall adver-
tise them in some newspaper for not less than three weeks, and
if no owner shall then appear, he shall sell them at public sale,
one-half of the net proceeds of sale to go to the person taking
the cattle, and the other half to the county commissioners for
the use of the county.

ELECTIONS.

79. Caroline county is divided into four election districts, ac-
cording to their present bounds and limits, in each of which dis-
tricts all elections for public officers shall be held at the places now
established by law.

80. The judges and clerks of election for said county shall be
entitled to three dollars a day each for holding elections and
making returns thereof.

PEDERAISBUKG.

81. The charter of the village of Federalsburg, in Dorchester
and Caroline counties, is found in the local law of Dorchester
county.
