dollars, in the discretion of such court martial as the case may
require.

711. The said books shall be delivered over to the officer hereby
authorized to inspect the same within three days after they are
required of his inferior .officer; and if any officer shall neglect or
refuse to deliver over said books when so required, or if it shall
appear from said books, or from any other source, that any
officer has neglected to comply with any of the provisions of this
law as required of him, he shall be cashiered, or fined not exceed-
ing one hundred dollars.

.712. Any officer appointed in said divisions who shall not,
within twenty days after the acceptance of the appointment, arm,
accoutre and provide himself with the uniform established agree-
ably to the provisions of this law, if a company or regimental
staff officer he shall be fined a sum not exceeding twenty dollars,
in the discretion of such court martial as the case may require;

and if a general or regimental field officer, or division or brigade
staff" officer, he shall be fined a sum not exceeding fifty dollars, in
the discretion of such court martial as the case may require; and
if any officer shall thereafter continue such neglect, he shall be
liable to be cashiered at any time, by such court martial as the
case may require.

713. The commanding officer of each company shall appoint
and dismiss at his pleasure his non-commissioned officers; and if
any person so appointed and having accepted said appointment
shall neglect or refuse to obey the orders of his superior officers
in executing the provisions of this law, he shall forfeit and pay a
sum not exceeding ten dollars, in the discretion of such court
martial as the case may require.

714. If any commissioned officer shall be guilty of any breach
of orders, or shall at any division, regimental or company meet-
ings, on any occasion, in the execution' of the provisions of this
law, or when the division, regiment or company to which he may
belong, or in or over which he holds a command, is paraded or
on duty as prescribed by this law, or in the by-laws of any com-
pany, misbehave, demean himself or appear in an unofficer-like
manner, he shall for such offence be cashiered, suspended, repri-
manded or fined not exceeding one hundred dollars, in the dis-
cretion of such court martial as the case may require; and the
proceedings of every court martial in case of cashiering shall be
