HOOP-POLES AND TIMBER.
89. If any person shall cut down, or cause or induce any person
to cut down, any timber or tree of a size not less than those com-
monly used for hoop-poles, in Allegany county, with intent to
steal the same, or any part thereof, every person so offending,
his aiders and abettors having knowledge of such intent to steal,
shall be adjudged guilty of felony, and shall be sentenced as for
feloniously stealing goods or chattels, to the value of the tree or
trees which shall be cut down as aforesaid, and of the injury
thereby occasioned.
JUBOKS.
90. The jurors of Allegany county shall receive each two
dollars per day for each day they shall attend the Circuit Court,
and where they reside over five miles from Cumberland, they
shall receive an additional sum of twelve and a half cents for
each mile over five miles, to be allowed them, on going to and
returning from the court once in each term.
91. The county commissioners shall annually levy such sum of
money as they may deem sufficient to pay the jurors of the
county for the ensuing year, to be paid over to the clerk of the
Circuit Court, who shall annually account with said commissioners
therefor, and shall give bond, with security to be approved by
said commissioners, for the faithful disbursement thereof to the
jurors aforesaid.
92. Any surplus that may remain in the hands ef the said
clerk shall be a contingent fund for paying said jurors.
93. The county commissioners shall allow said clerk such com-
pensation as they may deem reasonable for said services.
JUSTICES OF THE PEACE AND CONSTABLES.
94. There shall be the following number of justices of the peace
.and constables for Allegany county: For election district number
one, two justices of the peace and one constable; for election
district number two, two justices of the peace and one constable;
for election district number three, two justices of the peace and
one constable; for election district number four, three justices
of the peace and two constables; for election district number five,
two justices of the peace and two constables; for election district.
