341. The general inspector and assistant inspectors shall ap-
portion among themselves the whole of the expenses of their
respective offices, and each shall bear and pay an equal part of
such expenses.

842. It shall be the duty of the general inspector to perform
the duties of an assistant inspector during the absence of any
one of said. inspectors on account of sickness or any other ea'n'se.

343. The general inspector and assistant inspector shall be
entitled -to charge one cent for each barrel or half barrel in-
spected by them, and any inspector who shall demand or re-
ceive any greater sum shall forfeit the sum of twenty dollars
for each offence.

344. The inspector shall, at the time of inspecting each barrel
and half barrel of flour, brand thereon the year. and month of his
so inspecting it, and if of a superior quality to that denominated
and branded "Superfine," but -not of the quality of "Family,"
he shall brand the same " Extra," and if of a superior quality
to that denominated and branded "Extra," he shall brand it
" Family," which brand shall be considered the best or finest
brand; and if any person or persons other than the inspectors
of flour duly appointed shall place the said brands on any cask,
barrel or half barrel, he shall forfeit and pay not less than five
nor more than twenty dollars.

345. The dimensions of the letters of every brand used by the
inspectors shall be three-eighths of an inch in length.

346. In all cases of appeal from the judgment of any in-
spector, the three persons who shall review the same shall first
take an oath to decide the case, to be reviewed agreeably to the
standard fixed as aforesaid, and shall proceed to view and care-
fully examine the flour in question, and compare the same with
• said standard; and if they, or any two of them, upon such com-
parison, shall reverse the judgment so appealed from, the in-
spector whose judgment is so reversed shall put. on the cask or
casks containing the flour such brand as the said three persona,
or any two of them, shall declare to be agreeable to the standard.

347. No person shall condemn any flour barrel or half barrel
which can, in his opinion, be repaired at a reasonable expense;

and it shall be the duty of the several inspectors, under the
