318. The certificate shall express the number of barrels and
tierces thus shipped, the kind and quality of the fish they contain,
with the name of the master or owner and the name of the vessel
in which such fish are received for exportation.

314. Every such master or owner shall take and subscribe the
following oath before the said United States officer: "I. A. B.,
do swear, according to the best of my knowledge and belief, the
certificate hereto annexed contains the whole quantity of pickled
and barrelled fish on board the ---, A. B., master, and that no
fish is shipped on board said vessel for the ship's company or on
freight or cargo, but what is inspected and branded according to
the law of this State."

315. Jf any master of a vessel or other person shall put or re-
ceive on board any vessel or other carriage of conveyance, to
transport the same from this State, any pickled or salted fish
packed in casks which are not inspected and branded as afore-
said, he shall on conviction forfeit and pay not less than five nor
more than twenty dollars for each barrel, half barrel, or tierce
of such uninspected fish.

816. Nothing contained in the three last preceding sections
shall be construed to prevent any person or persons sending any
fish from the fisheries on the Potomac to any of the ports of ex-
port either in Virginia or the District of Columbia, there to be
subject to such inspection as may be provided by the regulations
at said ports.

817. If any person shall alter, erase or deface the mark or
brand of the inspector or sub-inspector upon any barrel, half
barrel or tierce, or shall mark or brand any barrel, half barrel or
tierce of fish which has not been inspected, with any mark or
brand similar to or in imitation of the inspector's mark or brand,
or after the inspector shall have passed any barrel, half barrel or
tierce of fish as merchantable, shall pack into the cask which
contains the same any other salted fish, or after any barrel, half
barrel or tierce of fish shall be marked with a broad arrow, shall
unpack and re-pack the same into other casks or packages for
exportation or sale, shall forfeit and pay for each offence, twenty
dollars.

318. If any person in the city of Baltimore other than the in-
spectors appointed by the Governor shall inspect, mark or brand
