and to the paymept of a fine of not less than ten nor more than
one hundred dollars.

239. Any person who shall remove any engine or other appa-
ratus for the extinguishment of fire from the house or other place
where the same shall be kept or deposited, unless properly
authorized so to do by the president and directors of the com-
pany to whom the same may belong, or their duly authorized
agent, shall forfeit and pay a sum not less than five nor more
than twenty dollars, to be sued for and recovered in the name
of the company, and for its use, before any justice of the peace,
in the same manner that small debts are recoverable.

240. Any person who shall enter or remain in any engine
house of any fire company, unless authorized so to do by the
president and directors of said company, or by their duly au-
thorized agent, shall forfeit and pay a sum not less than five nor
more than twenty dollars, to be sued for and recovered in the
manner directed in the last preceding section.

241. The president and directors of each fire company shall
appoint some appropriate designation or badge to be worn by
the members of said company in front of their hats or caps, at
all times when attending their engine; and if any person not a
member of the company shall assume or wear said badge, or any
imitation thereof, at any time when the company may be en-
gaged in their appropriate duties, he shall be fined in a sum not
exceeding five dollars, to be sued for and recovered before a
justice of the peace as small debts, in the name of said com-
pany.

242. Any member of a fire company, notwithstanding his
being a member of such company, shall be a competent witness
in any case in which the penalties imposed in the three preced-
ing sections are sought to be recovered.

248. Any minor who shall attach himself to the ropes of any
engine or other apparatus for the extinguishment of fires, or
run with the same, or in any manner connect himself about the
same, shall upon conviction thereof in the Criminal Court of
Baltimore, or other court of competent jurisdiction, forfeit and
pay a sum not less than ten nor more than twenty dollars, one-
half to the beneficial fund of the Baltimore "United Fire Depart-
ment and the other half to the use of the informer, except the
