ALMS HOUSE.
SECTION 1. The county commissioners of Allegany county may
appoint a steward to take charge of the alms house in said county,
may purchase all articles necessary for farming the lands thereto
attached, and may levy from time to time on the assessable
property of the county, such sums of money as shall be necessary
for the support of the same.
2. They shall invite all persons who receive pensions by county
assessment to relinquish the same, and repair to the alms house;
but if they neglect or refuse to comply with such invitation, the
county commissioners shall continue to levy such sums of money
as they may deem necessary for the support of such out pen-
sioners; Provided, such out pensioners have been residents of
said county for two years next preceding the time of the levy.
AUCTIONS.
3. It shall not be lawful for any person to vend at auction any
goods, wares, or merchandise, within the limits of the city of Cum-
berland, or within the circuit of one mile thereof, or within the
