and returning from each session .of the board of commissioners,
over and above ten miles of the distance from his place of resi-
dence to the place of holding the meetings of said board; but
mileage shall not be allowed more than once for a session of two
or more consecutive days.

65. They shall levy the State and county taxes for said county
on or before the first day of March in each year.

66. They shall levy within the year for all the expenses and
disbursements of said county which, by a careful estimate, will
be required for that year, with ten per cent. added for discount,
allowances, and expenses of collection.

67. The president of the board of county commissioners may
sign all deeds or leases for property sold or otherwise alienated
by the court, and annex, or cause to be annexed thereto the seal
of the county commissioners.

68. All claims upon said county for which levies shall be made
by the county commissioners, and for which payment shall not
be demanded from the treasurer of the county within three years
from the time when the same were levied, shall be deemed for-
feited to the use of the county, and the money levied shall there-
after be applicable to the payment of the current expenses of
the county; but the county commissioners may, in their discre-
tion, levy anew for any such claim, but without interest.

69. The county commissioners for said county may, from time
to time, in their discretion, sell at public sale, in fee simple, or on
leases for ninety-nine years, renewable forever, the lots hereto-
fore laid off out of the real estate acquired by said county by the
severance of the joint ownership of Baltimore city and county
in the estate known as the alms-house property.

70. Before making any such sale, the county commissioners
shall give public notice thereof, in two or more daily newspapers
published in the city of Baltimore, at least three times a week for
three weeks before the day of sale.

71. If the said lots shall be leased, they shall bo leased for a
ground rent per foot, fronting on the line of some one of the
streets of the city of Baltimore, as proposed to be extended
into and through the said alms-house estate.
