436 MILITIA. . [ART. 63.

pany book aforesaid, discriminating such as belong to the State
from such as belong to individuals, within three days after such
inspection, and shall also within ten days thereafter transmit by
mail a copy of such entry to the adjutant general's office to be
recorded therein.

78. The uniform for general officers, their aids-de-camp and
brigade inspectors, field, company and staff officers of the militia,
shall be the same with the uniform of the officers of the same
grade in the corresponding arms of the United States army,
excepting that the letters M. M. shall be used whenever the
letters U. S; are used by the officers of the United States army;
and inasmuch as there is no rifle arm belonging to the said United
States army, to afford a pattern uniform for that arm, the ma-
jority of the officers of each rifle regiment of the militia of this
State may select and establish the uniform to be worn by the
field, company and staff officers of such regiment.

79. Bach volunteer company may select and establish the uni-
form of the said company, and the field and staff officers of each
volunteer regiment may adopt and establish the uniform to be
worn by them.

80. If any officer shall neglect or refuse to uniform himself
agreeably to the provisions of this article, he shall be cashiered
or fined for the first offence not exceeding fifty dollars, in the
discretion of such court martial as the case may .require, and a
further sum of fifty dollars for the like neglect for every parade
succeeding the decision of the court martial imposing said fine,
and the commanding officer of any company shall forthwith erase
the name of each member thereof who shall neglect or refuse to
adopt or provide himself with and appear in the uniform of his
company for two succeeding parades, and he shall then forthwith
hand over the names of 'such delinquents to the commanding
officer of the company district of the militia', or to serve in the
draughted company in which he should serve if he should be a
volunteer, under a penalty of twenty dollars for each neglect of
said officer, to be imposed on him by such court martial as the
case may require.

81. Every commissioned officer shall arm himself as shall be
prescribed by the commander in chief of the militia.
