ART. 44.] HOSPITAL—MARYLAND. 323

3. The said president and visitors shall meet on the Wednes-
day next succeeding the first Monday in June in each year, at
such place in said Hospital or in the city of Baltimore as they
may deem proper, and elect a president, vice president, secretary
and treasurer, who shall hold their offices for one year, and until
other and proper persons shall be chosen and elected in their
places, according to such by-laws as the said president and
visitors may make and appoint.

4. If the president, vice president, secretary and treasurer, or
any of the visitors shall die, resign, remove from the city of
Baltimore or counties respectively from which they were ap-
pointed, or shall, in conformity to the by-laws and regulations
which the said president and visitors may make and ordain, be
removed from their respective places, an election shall be held
to supply their places for the residue of the term for which
they were elected, according to the rules, regulations and by-
laws of the corporation.

5. The persons so elected and appointed, before they proceed
to exercise any of the functions of their offices or appointments,
shall take an oath faithfully and duly to exercise their respective
offices.

6. The said president and visitors shall have full power to
appoint such and so many physicians, surgeons, apothecaries,
superintendents, matrons, nurses and servants, or other officers
and persons for the administration and service of said Hospital,
as they may deem requisite, who shall hold their appointments
at the pleasure of the said president and visitors.

7. They may make, ordain, alter, amend and abolish all by-
laws, rules and regulations for the administration and govern-
ment of said Hospital as they may deem beneficial and advan-
tageous.

8. They shall admit into said Hospital no person affected with
any dangerous or contagious or infectious disease, but they may
in their discretion build, or cause to be built, a separate and
distinct house or establishment for such persons on the grounds
belonging to the corporation, which separate establishment shall
be under the control, management and direction of the said
president and visitors in the same manner as the Hospital.
