For taking any other acknowledgment, . . . . 15

For a pass, .......... 25

For a certificate of estrays, ...... 40

For issuing summons in replevin, ..... 25

For issuing writ of attachment,...... 25

For taking replevin or other bonds, ..... 25

18. In all cases where the demand in controversy exceeds the
sum of fifty dollars, they shall be entitled to the following fees,
to wit:

For issuing each summons in debt or damages, and mak-
ing docket entry, ........ 25

For rendering judgment on all trial cases, ... 50
For entering judgment by confession, .... 25

For entering continuance, if objection be made by the op-
posite party, ......... 10

For search or transcript from the docket, .... 10

For binding apprentices, each justice, .... 25

19. They shall be entitled to be paid by the county in criminal
cases the following fees :
For issuing each State's writ, ...... 25

For search warrant, ........ 25

For taking recognizance of witnesses, each, ... 15
For taking recognizances in each case reported to court, 25
For holding an inquest upon a deceased person, . . 5 00
For every warrant under the law prohibiting negroes
from navigating vessels, the same fees as in cases for
debt, and for every judgment under said law, . . 5 00
For issuing an attachment for a witness refusing to at-
tend on the summons of a commissioner, ... 50
For taking depositions in cases of contested elections, per
day, .......... 2 00

20. No justice shall charge, take and receive any fees or com-
pensation for mileage, or journey fee for the performance of any
duty cr business relating to his office as justice of the peace,
except what the party may agree to pay to a justice going from
his office to take the acknowledgment of a deed or other instru-
ment of writing.
