294 FEES OF OFFICERS. [ART. 38.

CRIERS.

16. The criers of the several courts shall be entitled to demand
and receive the following fees, to wit:
For swearing every jury, ..... .60

For swearing every bailiff, ...... 7

For every other oath in court, ...... 5

For special bail, ......... 33

For clearing every prisoner by proclamation, if required,. 50
For calling every recognizance, ...... 26

For attending Circuit Court at equity terms, per day, . 2 00

JUSTICES or THE PEACE.

17. The justices of the peace of this State shall be entitled to
receive the fees allowed in the following table, and such fees shall
be taxed and paid by the party against whom judgment shall be
rendered, to wit:

In all cases where the demand in controversy does not exceed
fifty dollars:

For issuing each summons in debt or damages,... 15
For each summons for witness, including all the witnesses

applied for at the same time, ...... 25

For venire to summon freeholders, ..... 25

For fieri facias, ....... .25

For venditioni exponas, ....... 35

For scire facias, ......... 35

For every supersedeas, . . . . . . . 15

For every oath or affidavit, ...... 5

For probate of account, ....... 10

For every judgment rendered where there is no trial, . 15
For every judgment rendered on trial, .... 50

For every commitment, . . . . . . . 15

For every releasement, . . . . ... . 15

For every warrant of attachment, ..... 25

For attachment of contempt, ...... 12J

For venire to summon a jury in a case of forcible entry
