troller and county commissioners, or on either of them, accord-
ing to the character of the taxes represented to be in arrears,
previous to passing a final order on such application.
49. Nothing contained in the three last preceding sections
shall prevent or delay the enforcement by the Comptroller,
county commissioners or others interested, of their rights and
remedies.
SUPERIOR COURT OF BALTIMORE CITY.
50. This court shall have in the city of Baltimore civil juris-
diction in all cases where the Circuit Courts would have juris-
diction in their respective counties, except so far as jurisdiction
is conferred on the Court of Common Pleas. The said court
may, on motion of the plaintiff in any action therein instituted
wherein the debt or damages claimed shall be over one hundred
dollars, and shall not exceed five hundred dollars, order and
direct the papers and proceedings in said action to be removed
into the Court of Common Pleas, and after such removal, the
said action shall be proceeded in as if the same had originated
in the Court of Common Pleas.
51. The said court shall have and exercise jurisdiction in
appeals from the decisions of any commissioners or other per-
sons appointed in virtue of any ordinance to ascertain the
damage which will be caused, or the benefit which will accrue,
to the owners or possessors of grounds or improvements by
locating, opening, extending, widening, straightening or closing
up, in whole or in part, any street, square, lane or alley within
the city of Baltimore.
52. The appeal from the assessment of the commissioners
shall be taken within thirty days after the expiration of the
notice of such assessment required to be given by the register
of the city.
53. An appeal may be taken to the Court of Appeals from any
decision on matter of law made by said court, in an appeal taken
under the two last preceding sections; Provided, such appeal be
taken within thirty days after such decision shall have been
made.
