The bill entitled an Act to repeal, amend and re-enact sec-
tion 97 of Article 81 of the Code of Public General Laws,
entitled Revenues and Taxes, as amended and re-enacted by
the Act of 1864, chapter 391, so as to provide for the col-
lection of all taxes or assessments levied on the property,
capital stock or effects of any corporation or association of the
State of Maryland, or other corporation or association doing
business in said State at its place of business,

Being upon its second reading,

On motion of Mr, Nicolai,

The further consideration thereof was postponed and said
bill was made the order of the day for Tuesday, March

24th.

The Secretary of the Senate returned

The bill entitled an Act to protect clams and shell fish in
Worcester county.

Endorsed "Passed by yeas and nays," with proposed
amendment.

Amendment proposed :

Strike out section 11, and insert the following in lieu there-
of:

Section 11. And be it enacted, That the taking and carry-
ing away oysters which shall have been culled and laid
out or bedded in any of the waters of this county, with a
felonious intent to convert the same to his own use, shall be
deemed guilty of the same, upon conviction in a court of com-
petent jurisdiction, shall be deemed guilty of felony, and be
sentenced to the penitentiary for not less than two years, nor
more than five years.

Sec. 12. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
The question being on the amendment, it was adopted.

The bill, as amended, was then rejected by yeas and nays
as follows:
