MONDAY, January 20, 1868.

The House met. and was opened with prayer by the Rev.
Mr. Henderson.

Present at the call of the roll the following members :

Messrs. Stewart, (Speaker,) Coad, Boyer, Beck, Ham-
mond, Iglehart, Deale, Bond of Calvert, Dalrymple, Chap-
man, Slingluff, Poteet, Biddison, Lowe, Horsey, Stewart, of
Dorchester, Mearns, Keech, Guy, Sudler, Legg, Bowlus,
Maynard, Byers, Hubbard, Sanner, Wentz, Blake, La-
trobe, Pentland, Smith, of Baltimore city, Bond, of Bal-
timore city, Colton, Mullin, Chaisty, Harig, Markland, Mar-
shall, Conway, Herbert, Rohrer, Offntt, Conley, McCulloh.
Kean, Trimble, Hall, Jordan, Worthington, Fooks, Hop-
kins—51.

The Speaker laid before the House the reply of the Su-
preme Bench of Baltimore City to an order of the House of
Delegates ;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Judiciary.

Mr. Pentland presented the, petition of sundry property
owners and residents of the Yorktown turnpike, for permis-
sion for the Passenger Railroad to run their cars on Sunday
the same as other clays ;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Cor-
porations.

Mr. Poteet presented the petition of John Cunningham.
James Mahool, and eighteen other citizens of Baltimore
county, praying the passage of an Act to continue the pres-
ent school system in force till July 15, 1808 ;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Edu-
cation.

Mr. Biddison presented the petition of Sylvester Foard,
B. A. Guyton and twenty-one other citizens of Baltimore
county, praying the passage of an Act to continue the pres-
ent school system in force till July 15, 1868 ;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Edu-
cation.

Also, the petition of F. C. Fossett, Michael Chester and
thirty other citizens of Baltimore county, praying the pas-
sage of an Act to continue the present school system in force
till July 15, 1868 ;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Edu-
cation.

Mr. Bond, of Calvert, presented the petition of John T.
Bond and seventy-six other citizens of Calvert county, pray-
