922 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Mar. 19,

THURSDAY, March 19, 1868.

The House met, and was opened with prayer by the Rev.
Mr. Leech.

Present at the call of the roll the following members:

Messrs. Stewart, (Speaker,) Loker, Coad, Iglehart, Deale,
Bond, of Calvert, Dalrymple, Mitchell, Chapman, Nicolai,
Slingluff, Montague, Poteet, Holmes, Biddison, Corbin,
Horsey, Percy, Stewart, of Dorchester, Touchstone, Guy,
Williams, Sudler, Legg, Holloway, Smith, of Worcester,
Albaugh, Dutrow, Wenner, Bowlus, Maynard, Silver, Nel-
son, Vandiver, Brown, Hubbard, Sanner, Wentz, Robb,
Morse, Blake, Latrobe, Pentland, Smith, of Baltimore city,
Bond, of Baltimore city, Colton, Mullin, Chaisty, McElroy,
Harig, Markland. Marshall, Conway, Coudy, Rohrer, Seibert,
Riggs, Offutt, Conley, McCulloh, Kean, Devecmon, Trimble,
Hall, Davis, of Carroll, Jordan, Worthington, Harden, Clark,
Jones, Fooks—71.

Mr. Offutt presented the petition of fifteen citizens of Hy-
attstown and vicinity, praying that there will be no law
passed prohibiting the sale of spirituous liquors in said
Hyattstown or two miles of it,

Also, the petition of 38 citizens of Montgomery county
asking the passage of a law prohibiting the sale of spirituous
liquors in the village of Hyattstown or within two miles of
said village.

Which were severally read and referred to the Committee
on the Judiciary.

The Speaker laid before the House the memorial of Nich's
Brewer, enclosing the names of those persons in the 7th ward
in the city of Baltimore, who are entitled to pensions.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pensions.

Also, the petition of Emanuel Irons, for himself and others,
asking a modification of the Sunday law.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Judiciary.

Mr. Worthington submitted the following order :

Ordered, That leave of absence be granted Jno. H. Jordan
from Friday morning until Wednesday evening next, 25th of
March.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Hubbard submitted the following order :
