vote by which the House refused to adjourn.

The Speaker decided the motion to be out of order.

of the chair.

On motion of Mr. Coad,

The appeal from the decision of the chair was laid on the
table.

Mr. Wentz submitted the following amendments :

Page 56, chapter XX, section 1, line 1, fill the blank with
"twelve;" line 8, strike out the word "white."

Which were adopted.

Mr. Wentz submitted the following amendments :

Page 57, section 3, line 1, after "several" insert Colleges
and ; line 2, after "by" insert any ; lines 2 and 3, strikeout
"existing at the time of the adoption of this Act," and in-
sert, of the General Assembly ; line 3, after "thereto,"
strike out the remainder of the section.

Page 58, section 6, line 4, strike out "Superintendent,"
and insert Commissioner ; line 6, strike out "white."

Page 58, section 7, line 5, strike out "Superintendent"
and insert Commissioner ; line 6, strike out " Superintend-
ent" and insert Commissioner ; line 14, after Commissioners
strike out the remainder of the section and insert "under
this law."

Page 59, section 8, line 4, strike out "Superintendent"
and insert Commissioner.

Page 60 of printed bill, section 10, line 2, strike out after
"sixty-eight," the remainder of the section and insert, and
the teachers of the State are authorized to continue to teach
