The amendments submitted by Mr. Wentz, as amended,

Were then severally adopted.

Mr. Wentz submitted the following amendment:

Section 2, line 2, strike out all after the word "Commis-
sioners," and insert, one of which Board, selected by them-
selves, shall be their President.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Wentz submitted the following amendments :

Pages 2 and 3 of printed bill, chapter II, sub-title, strike
out "Superintendent" and insert Commissioner.

Section 1, line 1, strike out "Superintendent shall be ap-
pointed by the Governor of the State of Maryland, subject
to the confirmation of the Senate," and insert Commissioner
shall be elected by the State Board of Education;" line 5,
strike out "appointed" and insert elected; lines 5 and 6,
strike out "reappointed" and insert re-elected ; line 6, after
the word "term," strike out all of section 1.

Section 2, lines 1 and 2 of section 2, strike out to the arti-
cle "a," inclusive, and insert the words, with power to the
said ; line 3, section 2, strike out "and" and insert or, and
strike out "State Superintendent" and insert said Commis-
sioner ; line 4, after "duty," insert by a two-thirds vote;
and after "successor," strike out the remainder of the section.

Which was adopted.
