Mr. Chapman submitted the following amendment:

Section 39, line 1, strike out the word "fifteen" and insert
the words "twenty-two."

Which was adopted.

Mr. Coad submitted the following amendment:

Section 39, line 7, strike out the word "and," after the
word "Treasurer," and after the word "Comptroller," insert
the words "and Superintendent of Labor and Agriculture."

Which was adopted.

Mr. Legg submitted the following amendment:

Section 39, line 12, after the word "this," strike out the
word "appropriation," and insert the words "and any other
appropriation hereinafter mentioned."

Which was adopted.

Section 41, line 12, after the word "mate," insert the
words "to be a branch pilot," and in line 13, strike out the
word "eight," and insert the word "twelve."

Which was rejected.

Mr. Chapman submitted the following amendment:

Section 141, line 10, insert the words "five hundred" after
the word "thousand."

Which was rejected.

Mr. Keech submitted the following amendment:

Section 41, line 10, strikeout the words "two thousand,
and insert "fifteen hundred."

Which was rejected.

Mr. Banner submitted the following amendment:

Section 41, line 14, after the word "annum," strike out
the words "two engineers," and insert the words, "one
chief engineer, at twelve hundred dollars, and one assistant
engineer ;" strike out the word "each."

Which was adopted.

Mr. Coad submitted the following amendment:

Section 41, strike out all after the word "month," and insert
in lieu thereof, "and as many seamen at twenty dollars per
month, as the above Commissioners may deem necessary.
