stamps and the proper transmission of letters and other
mailable matter connected with this House, respectfully make
the following Report:

That they have made arrangements with the Postmaster
of the city to keep the office open, for the accommodation of
the members, until 10 o'clock, P. M.

And they also recommend the adoption of the following
order:

Ordered, That each member of the House of Delegates be
furnished, by the Chairman of the Committee on Claims,
with postage stamps to the amount of $30, and each officer
to the amount of $5, excepting the Chief Clerk, Reading
Clerk and Journal Clerk, who shall receive the same amount
as the members do.

Which was read and adopted.

Mr. Mullin, Chairman select committee, submitted the fol-
lowing report :

The committee appointed to inquire " what, if any, addi-
tional officers of the House are required," ask leave to report
that they have made.a diligent examination into the subject
committed to them, and find that there is no necessity for
the appointment of any additional officers.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Slingluff (the rules being suspended,) presented the
petition of Henry Bankard, Hamilton Easter, C. Bohn
Slingluff, C. C. Fulton,, James Lockard, Matthias Hielzman
and 2,000 other citizens of Baltimore city and county, resid-
ing on and near the line of the Pennsylvania Avenue Street
Railway line, in reference to compelling said line to afford
greater accommodations for the people using said line, and to
compel said Company to substitute two horse cars instead of
one horse cars, and shortening the intervals between the run-
ning of said cars.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Inter-
nal Improvements.

Mr. Jones (the rules being suspended,) presented a peti-
tion of sundry citizens of Howard county, praying the pas-
sage of an Act to continue in force the present school system
'till July 15, 1868.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Educa-
tion.

Mr. Montague (the rules being suspended,) presented the
petition of J. N. Johnston, Stephen Hogan, and ninety other
