General Assembly of Maryland, entitled an Act to establish
and incorporate an Asylum for the Deaf and Dumb of the
State of Maryland, to follow section fifteen,

Being upon a second reading, was,

On motion of Mr. Guy,
Referred to the select committee on that subject.

The hour of 11 o'clock having arrived, Mr. Coudy called
for the report of the Committee on Education on the General
School bill, under the order of the House.

Mr. Wentz, Chairman of the Committee on Education, re-
ported favorably

A bill entitled an Act to add a new Article to the Code of
Public General Laws, to be entitled Public Education, pro-
viding a general system of Free Public Schools for the State
of Maryland, and to repeal all laws inconsistent therewith.

Which was read a first time, and,
On motion of Mr. Coudy,

Made the special order of the day for Thursday, March 5th,
to take precedence of all other business.

On motion of Mr. Nicolai,

One thousand copies of the bill were ordered to be printed
in pamphlet form.

The bill entitled an Act to add additional sections to Ar-
ticle 16 of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled "Chan-
cery," to come in after section 78 of said Article,

Being upon a second reading,

Mr. Mullin submitted the following amendment:

Section 1, line 14, insert the word show after the word
"and."

Which was adopted.

The bill as amended was then read a second time and
ordered to be engrossed for a third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to repeal the charter incorpo-
rating the town of Snow Hill, in Worcester county, and
enact the following in lieu thereof

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to incorporate the Prince George's
County Central Turnpike Company,
