Mr. Johnson presented the petition of Amos Jones, Robert
Johnson and Marcellus A. Bramble, for compensation for
vessels pressed into service.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on
Claims.

Mr. Robb submitted the following order :

Ordered, That from and after the next night for which
this Hall is engaged, the use thereof shall not be granted for
the purpose of any public lecture or meeting whatever.

Which was. read, and,

On motion of Mr. Pentland,
Laid on the table.
Mr. Keech submitted the following order:

Ordered, That the Committee on the Judiciary be in-
structed to inquire what further legislation, if any, is, in its
judgment, necessary to secure more effectually the property
of married women, its increase and profits to their use, as
seems to be contemplated by the 43d section of Article 3d o
the Constitution.

Which was rejected.

Mr. Nelson submitted the following order :

Ordered, That the Postmaster he required to collect the
mail matter in the House five minutes before closing the
mail, which shall he at half-past two o'clock.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Guy submitted the following order :

Ordered, That a special committee of five be appointed by
the Speaker to take into consideration all matters relating to
the education of the deaf and dumb of the State of Maryland,
and to report to this House what changes, if any, are desir-
able in the existing laws on this subject, and all bills or res-
olutions concerning the education of the deaf and dumb now
before this House, or which may hereafter be introduced,
shall be referred to this committee.

Which was adopted,

And Messrs. Guy, Pentland, Horsey, Albaugh and Touch-
stone, constituted said committee.

Mr. Nicolai gave notice that on to-morrow he would sub-
mit an order that Rule 29, of the House, be rescinded.

Mr. Williams moved that the vote by which the order in-
structing the Committee on Printing to contract with the
