On motion of Mr. Nicolai,
(The rules being suspended,)

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations, to
report a bill to incorporate the Maryland Land and Permanent
Homestead Association of Baltimore county.

Mr Wentz, (the rules being suspended,) submitted the fol-
lowing order :

Ordered, That Mr. Sanner have leave of absence for this
day.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Smith, of Worcester, (the rules being suspended,)
submitted the following order.

Ordered, That the Speaker of this House, be, and he is
hereby requested to designate some committee of the House
to consider, whether it be expedient to report a bill provid-
ing for the payment of one years salary to the Hon. Philip
F. Thomas, a Senator elect of this State, to the United States
Senate, who has recently been arbitrarily and illegally re-
jected by that body.

Which was adopted and referred to the Committee on
Claims.

The Speaker (the rules being suspended) laid before the
House the petition of Woodward, Baldwin & Co., on the
subject of granting licenses to non-resident traders.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Judiciary.

Mr. Rose (the rules being suspended) presented a commu-
nication from John N. Gardner, relating to the advantages
of a Grain Elevator for Baltimore city.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ag-
riculture.

On motion of Mr. Bond, of Baltimore city,
